Kaufland sets a higher bar on resolution than many marketplaces. Its product data guideline recommends at least 1024 px in height or width as standard, and 2048 px for the zoom function. Photos prepared for a 500 px minimum elsewhere can look fine in your files and still fall short here.
The tool also tests the white background the guideline asks for in the first photo, and the 10 MB limit. It works on your device, so your photos stay private.
White background, but no white space
Kaufland's guideline asks for a clear silhouette on white in the first photo and also says no shadows, frames or white space. Those two rules pull against the usual habit of padding a photo onto a large square canvas. Crop close to the product, and let the white background be a backdrop and not a margin. Fix All on this page keeps your photo's own shape, so it adds no new margins.
The guideline ties the white background to Google Shopping, among other uses, because Kaufland passes images to other marketing channels. It mentions that Google Shopping recommends 1440 px width for clothing and accessories, and that many social platforms recommend 1200 x 1200. If you sell clothing, 2048 px covers all of those at once.
Rules that are easy to miss
Seals like Stiftung Warentest are named as not permitted, even when the award is real. Put that information in your product text. The same goes for flags, delivery promises and prices. Snapshots are not accepted as the main image and neither are placeholder photos, which matters if your feed sends a generic image for products still waiting on photography. Kaufland suggests 5 to 10 pictures from different angles.
