Quick answer
The ListingFix eBay fee calculator estimates the final value fee, per-order fee and your profit for US sellers without a Store. It applies eBay's basic rates, such as 13.6% for most categories up to $7,500 per item, to the total sale including shipping and sales tax. Every rate is editable and defaults come from eBay's fee page.
What this tool does
Fee on the total sale
Counts item price, shipping charged and the buyer's sales tax before applying the final value fee, as eBay describes.
Five category presets
Fills the rate for most categories, books, coins, trading cards or guitars, or type a custom rate for others.
Two tier final value fee
Applies the main rate up to the per-item limit, then the lower rate to the portion above it.
Per-order fee by order size
Charges the lower fee at $10.00 or less and the higher one above that, testing the total sale.
Optional international and insertion fees
Separate boxes add the international fee percentage and any insertion fee, both starting at 0.
Profit and margin with breakdown
Shows profit, total eBay fees and margin, and lists each fee and cost on its own line.
How to use it
1Enter your item price, the shipping you charge and your costs.
2Pick a category and add the buyer's sales tax rate.
3Read your fees and profit, then adjust your price if needed.
eBay charges its final value fee on the total sale, including the shipping and sales tax your buyer pays. That is why the fee often comes out higher than a quick percentage of your item price. This calculator counts all of it.
Defaults are the basic rates on eBay's own fee page, for sellers without a Store. If you have a Store or an unusual category, change the rate boxes to match your own.
What this calculator leaves out
It does not cover Store subscription rates, promoted listing fees, optional listing upgrades or the Below Standard surcharge, which eBay says adds 6% to final value fees. Bags, jewelry, watches, athletic shoes and heavy equipment use different rules, so they are not in the list. Type their rates in by hand.
Questions sellers ask
What is the eBay final value fee for most categories?
eBay's fee page lists 13.6% of the total sale up to $7,500 per item for most categories, plus 2.35% on the portion over $7,500. A per-order fee is added on top. These are the basic rates for sellers without a Store.
Does eBay charge fees on sales tax?
Yes. eBay says the total amount of the sale includes the item price, handling charges, shipping collected from the buyer, with some exceptions, plus sales tax and other applicable fees. Enter a typical tax rate here so the fee estimate reflects this.
Why is my eBay fee higher than 13.6% of my item price?
Because eBay charges the percentage on the total sale, including the shipping and sales tax your buyer pays, not just the item price. The per-order fee is then added on top. Enter shipping and a tax rate here, and the breakdown shows the total the fee was charged on.
What is the eBay per-order fee?
eBay charges $0.30 on orders of $10.00 or less and $0.40 on orders over $10.00. We apply the $10.00 test to the total sale including shipping and tax. Both amounts are editable if your account has different terms.
When does the eBay international fee apply?
For US sellers, eBay lists 1.65% when the delivery or buyer address is outside the US, unless you use eBay International Shipping. The box defaults to 0 for domestic sales. Enter 1.65 when a sale would be charged the fee.
Are eBay insertion fees included?
Your first 250 listings each month are free, then each one costs $0.35, according to eBay's fee page. The box defaults to $0 for that reason. If you are past your free allowance, enter 0.35 to include it in the profit figure.
What are eBay's fees for books, trading cards and guitars?
The preset rates are 15.3% for books, movies and music, 13.25% for coins and paper money that are not bullion, 13.25% for comics and trading cards, and 6.7% for guitars and basses. All use 2.35% above $7,500. Those are basic rates for sellers without a Store.
Does this eBay fee calculator work if I have a Store?
Yes, if you type in your own rates, since the defaults are for sellers without a Store. Store subscription costs and Store rates are not built in. Change the final value fee and other boxes to match your plan, and subtract your subscription separately.
What does this eBay calculator leave out?
It does not cover Store subscription rates, promoted listing fees, optional listing upgrades or the Below Standard surcharge, which eBay says adds 6% to final value fees. Bags, jewelry, watches, athletic shoes and heavy equipment use different rules, so type those rates in by hand.
Is this eBay fee calculator free, and do I need to sign in?
It is free with no sign-up, and you do not connect an eBay account. The sums run in your browser as you type, using only the numbers you enter. It is an estimate, so compare it with the fees shown on your eBay account.
