    Quick answer

The ListingFix eBay image checker tests a listing photo against eBay's published numbers: at least 500 x 500 pixels, about 1600 x 1600 recommended, and files up to 12 MB. It does not test the background, because eBay has no pure white rule. Your photo stays in your browser and is never uploaded.

eBay needs photos of at least 500 x 500 pixels and recommends about 1600 x 1600. Files can be up to 12 MB. This tool reads your photo and tells you where it stands on each number from eBay's help page.

eBay has no pure white rule, so the checker does not test your background. It runs in your browser and your photo stays on your device.

What eBay asks for beyond pixels

eBay suggests an uncluttered, neutral backdrop, with white generally best and a darker one for shiny items. The main photo should show the whole item face-on. Added badges, logos, copyright notices and watermarks can affect search placement, and used items cannot use catalog or stock photos.

    Questions sellers ask

What is the minimum eBay photo size?

eBay asks for at least 500 x 500 pixels and recommends about 1600 x 1600. The checker fails a photo whose shortest side is under 500 pixels and warns when it is under 1600, so you can see which case applies to you.

What is the maximum file size for an eBay photo?

eBay allows files up to 12 MB, and this checker fails anything larger. Most listing photos fit, but very large camera files may not. Fix All resizes the photo to 1600 pixels on the shortest side and compresses it under the limit if needed.

Should an eBay photo be square?

It does not have to be. eBay says square or 16:9 widescreen generally looks best in listings and search results. This checker does not fail other shapes, and Fix All keeps your photo's original shape while it resizes it.

Does an eBay photo need a white background?

No. eBay has no pure white rule, so this checker does not test the background. eBay suggests an uncluttered, neutral backdrop, says white is generally best, and suggests a darker one for shiny items. Choose whichever shows your item clearly.

How many photos can I add to an eBay listing?

eBay requires at least one photo and allows up to 24 on a listing. Use the first for the whole item face-on, then add angles, labels and any flaws. Showing flaws clearly is especially useful on used items.

Why will my HEIC or TIFF file not open here?

Many browsers cannot open HEIC or TIFF files, so the checker cannot read them even though eBay accepts both. Export a JPEG from your phone or photo editor, then check that copy. Your original format is not the problem; it is only the browser that cannot display it.

Can I add my logo or a watermark to eBay photos?

You can, but eBay says added badges, logos, copyright notices and watermarks can affect search placement. This checker cannot detect them, since it only measures size, file and format. Check your photo yourself, and leave those overlays off if search placement matters to you.

Can I use stock photos on eBay?

Not for used items, because eBay says those cannot use catalog or stock photos. This checker cannot tell a stock photo from your own, so that part is up to you. Show the actual item you are selling, including its condition.

Is there a free eBay photo checker that works on a phone?

Yes. This one is free and runs in your phone's browser with no account. Tap the upload area, choose a photo and read the report. If a phone HEIC file will not open, export it as a JPEG and try again.
