    Quick answer

The Bol image checker tests a main image against bol's published limits: 500 to 6000 px, 30 KB to 10 MB, and 1200 px for zoom, plus a white background. It measures the whole canvas, while bol removes white space first, so keep margins small. It runs in your browser and uploads nothing.

    What this tool does

    How to use it

    1. 1Add your main image, trimmed close to the product.
    2. 2Read the size, file and background results.
    3. 3Download the corrected copy and upload it to your bol partner account.

Bol checks file size and pixel limits at upload and shows an error if you miss them, so those are worth testing first. The numbers that matter are 30 KB to 10 MB, 500 to 6000 px, and 1200 px if you want the zoom function to work.

The catch is white space. Bol crops it automatically and does not count it toward the limits, so a 1500 px square with a small product in the middle can have far fewer usable pixels than the file suggests.

    What bol still enforces

Bol's partner page says that from 1 July 2025 it no longer enforces its image guidelines as such, because they exist to improve visibility rather than protect customers. Rules on self-promotion stay enforced: no discount labels, company names, company logos, watermarks, or claims such as free shipping and extended warranty.

That does not make the guidelines pointless. Bol says they keep products visible on bol and Google, and it now detects stickers and promotional text on main images and swaps in another image from your account or adjusts the current one. Sending a clean main image keeps that choice with you.

Main image details pixels cannot show

The main image should be the front of the item, out of its packaging, on white with no visible shadow. Board games and media are the named exceptions on packaging. Combining front, side and rear views into one picture is not allowed in the first slot, and neither are lifestyle shots or models. Exact copies of an image are not loaded at all, so a second upload of the same file adds nothing.

    Questions sellers ask

Why is zoom not working on my bol images?

Bol says zoom works from 1200 x 1200 pixels. Because white space is cropped first, measure the product itself and not the canvas. If your product fills only half of a 1500 px frame, the result after cropping can fall under that size.

What file types does bol accept?

The rules page we read lists sizes but no file types. Seller guidance names JPEG and PNG, so this checker tests for those. If you plan to upload another format, confirm it in your bol partner account before preparing a whole catalogue in it.

My photo is too small in KB. What happened?

Bol sets a 30 KB minimum, and heavily compressed thumbnails or simple graphics can fall below it. This tool shows that as a warning. Go back to the original photo rather than scaling up a small file, because scaling adds kilobytes without adding any real detail.

Can I reuse images from another bol page or Google Images?

Not safely. Bol says images from Google Images are rarely free of copyright and using them can lead to claims, and it does not allow referring to images on other bol pages. Use photos you made or have written permission to use.

What size should a bol product image be?

Between 500 and 6000 pixels, and at least 1200 x 1200 if you want zoom. Bol does not count white space, so those numbers apply to the product and not the canvas. The file itself should weigh between 30 KB and 10 MB.

Why does bol show an error when I upload my image?

Bol shows an error when an image falls outside its minimum or maximum. Check for under 500 px, over 6000 px, under 30 KB or over 10 MB. A large canvas holding a small product can still come up short, because bol crops white space first.

Does this checker spot discount labels on my bol image?

No. It measures pixels, file size, file type and the background at the edges, so it cannot read a label. Look for discount labels, company names, logos, watermarks and free shipping claims yourself, because bol still enforces its rules on self-promotion.

Does Fix All remove white space for bol?

No. It keeps the shape of your photo, sizes it to a 1200 px shorter side and saves a JPEG, so any margin stays in the file. Crop close to the product before you add it, since that is what decides your usable pixels after bol crops.

Is there a free bol image checker?

Yes, this one is free and works in your browser, so the file is not uploaded. It is not a bol service, and only your partner account can confirm that an upload went through. Use it to catch size and file problems before you get that far.
